The Great Debate

LaptopVDesktop For many years now PC and laptop enthusiasts have been unable to come to a decision as to which style of system is better and we're here to help settle that debate...

This question has come up more often than I can count,

When it's time for a new computer, whether it's your first or an upgrade, it can be really hard to choose between a laptop and a desktop computer. There are so many more choices than ever before and each comes with a wide range of competitive features and price brackets.
Previously, the laptop was a huge downgrade from any desktop computer, unable to perform any were as well, fast or missing many of the features that a desktop had but with the benefit of being portable.
Today, the two are nearly equals with the main difference being that on a laptop you are confined to your battery life. While batteries are improving and you can purchase a spare battery, your daily lifespan is still dependent on the battery life and how many cells it has (9 or 12 cells)
Of course, if you are using the laptop at home or at the office, you can simply just plug it in to operate. You can also plug desktop accessories such as a mouse and keyboard into it or even go as far as utilitizing a desktop monitor if your work structure demands a larger screen.
With so many choices in life which way do you go?

The key aspects to keep in mind when purchasing your new rig is location, performance, features and price.
Location:
Have a good long hard think about were you will be using your new computer, is it some thing that is generally going to be used in one spot such as your desk or do you want the freedom and ability to move it from home, university and work?
If portability is a must then a laptop is the better choice for you however if your not fussed and its going to be used at a desk all of its life then a desktop PC is better suited to your needs.

Performance:
For many, the brunt of our daily work load comes down to facebook, emails, internet browsing and thats about it and lets face it any computer or laptop on the market will perform these tasks, but what about users who want to make movies, record music or even edit photos?
This all comes down to you and how your system will be used, In our opinion a desktop is better suited for long hours of performance and lots of multitasking. So consider what you will use the computer for to help decide between desktop or laptop computer.

Features:
When looking for any computer system, features are going to be important. When comparing a laptop to a desktop, consider the features that each has and to what capacity it can perform. For example, many laptops have built-in webcams and media software pre-installed for ease of use. Some laptops are designed specifically towards gamers and will allow you to play certain games with out any dramas.

If you are a serious gamer, a designer or some other type of computer user that requires the latest and greatest features, you might choose a desktop over a laptop because it's easier to upgrade your video card, sound card, memory and other components as the system gets older..

Pricing:
This is a no brainer, purchase what you can afford and think ahead, there is no point spending $400 on a system when in 6 months you plan on purchasing some thing bigger and better, keep the money in your pocket until such time that you can buy the best for your buck.
Cheaper computers will out date faster than others and this will become frustrating for most.
