Horse Riding at Koombahla Park

Hi my name is Haille, and I am in 2KJ at Leopold Primary School. I have just started getting horse riding lessons and I would like to tell you a little bit about what I have learnt so far.

I do my horse riding lessons at Koombahla Park Riding School. It is in Wallington and is over 80 acres in size.

Koombahla has an arena, a show jumping arena, full Cross Country course, horse wash and tie up areas.

The horse I ride is named Dutchy, she is a Shetland pony x Welsh pony. She is a grey pony and very cute and she takes good care of me when I an riding her. My teachers’ names are Scott and Tracy. They are very nice and have taught me so much in the last two weeks.

Before my last lesson I was there a little bit early and watched some other people training. I met a horse called Cruise, I got to pat him. Then my lesson began. I weaved in and out of witches hats so I could practise steering and controlling Dutchy. I went around the round yard both ways and did some trotting and walking over some logs. After the lesson I got to take her saddle and bridle off and I helped Tracy put them away in the tack room once we had finished.

Horse riding is a great hobby and I am really enjoying learning new skills during each lesson.
