Well summer is certainly moving along and spoiling us with some great weather to date. This weekend will also spoil us with a variety of things to do and then of course all the great sights, beaches and leisurely things to do which are on offer everyday in this wonderful region of ours.

Saturday, kicks off the weekend with some great markets which is always the preferred way to get the freshest produce and support our local industry and marketeers. The weekly Torquay Central Farmers Market is on again on Saturday 8.30am – 1pm. Its’ also a great excuse to head to Torquay and fill the fridge and the fruitbowl and then enjoy the array of Torquay lunch options and end the afternoon with a shop through surf shop heaven…what a good idea.

Bellarine Community Farmers monthly market is on today and the word is this market stands firmly behind all that is fresh and locally produced, concentrating on supporting the local community. Let’s concentrate on supporting it!

Well last weekend was Torquay Motor Show and the excitement and entertainment just keeps going for the motoring enthusiast and that is the “22nd Annual Kiwanis All Ford Day”. This would have to be close to all Geelong people’s hearts, as it is a showcase of the history of what’s been produced at our local Ford Motor Company over many years. There will be 1000 vehicles on display, with judging in varied categories. There will be lots on offer also for the whole family, kids included, so head to Deakin University – Waurn Ponds for all that is Ford..

Sunday will also bring another much anticipated annual event which is 2013 Festival Of Glass. This event is a plethora of artistic talent displaying the various uses of glass as a creative material. There will be glass art, sculpture, jewellery and mosaics on exhibit, as well as demonstrations and a glass related competition. This is definitely a wonderful event to attend and offers the opportunity to make a day of it in Drysdale and enjoy the local market, Bellarine Railway and a wander through the local cafes, shops and nurseries on offer. Admission is free and the event runs 10am – 4pm at Bellarine Secondary College Sports Centre.

Markets on Sunday, will include as mentioned; Drysdale Community Market with a little bit of everything and more, including a jumping castle and playground so the whole family is covered.

Also a slightly newer one to the market scene is the Makers and Growers Market at the wonderful Osborne House. This keeps getting bigger and better and what a superb spot for a market to indulge in, whilst enjoying the amazing outlook.

That’s a snapshot of the weekend, have fun and as always stay safe.
